ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Brenda L. Braaten is a Registered Dietitian and holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical
Nutrition from Tufts University. She is currently employed at Judson College,
Elgin, IL, where she is Associate Professor of Biology.
Brenda is an avid backpacker and canoeist. Her trips include:

Vermont Long Trail, an end-to-end section hike of (1995), and a Thru
Hike (2000)

Appalachian Trail, end-to-end section hike (1995-99)

Cohos Trail (NH), 165 miles, second woman to complete a thru hike (2001)

Allagash Waterway, 3 canoe trips, including a 100 mile trip (1997)
-
Mt. Shasta Climb (Glacier Route, 2002)
-
Boundary Waters Canoe Trip, 200 miles (2002)
-
Completed all 4000 footers in the White Mountains of New England.

She has backpacked in the Grand Canyon (twice), Glacier NP, the White Mountains,
New Zealand, and Iceland.

Her longest trek was a six week 620 mile section hike of the AT in June-July
1999.
